About Us

Our Company

Since 1983, leading fastener distributors have relied on Cardinal for same-day or next-day delivery of high strength, hot-forged fasteners.

In 2015, Cardinal Fastener was acquired by Fastenal Company.

We support quick turnaround with our huge inventory of forged blanks, available in a variety of materials and grades to meet SAE, ASTM, and ISO standards, including all grades of steel, high-strength alloys such as B16 and A286, 300, and 400 Series stainless, and exotic alloys. We can also manufacture ‘forged-to-order’ fasteners in as little as 3 to 5 days using hundreds of stock dies, or we can create custom dies in a fraction of the time and expense of cold-forming dies, making us very cost competitive for both large-run and small-run MRO requirements.

From Cardinal’s same-day manufacturing and its unique Birdie Chart, to its proprietary manufacturing processes, the company is a recognized leader in the fastener industry.

As an ISO 9001:2008 manufacturer, Cardinal maintains full material traceability all the way back to the mill, with rigorous incoming inspections, chemical analysis of all raw materials, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and lot code stamping.

Experienced Operators

Experienced operators manufacture parts to extremely close tolerances using single-blow open-die and two-stroke closed- die hot forging presses, induction heating units with optical pyrometers, cut-threading and roll-threading (before or after heat treating). Utilizing our vast inventory of blanks, we offer cut-threading on demand, enabling us to achieve an incredible 97% on-time performance for same-day or next-day shipments. We also offer multiple CNC lathes for specialty parts, and our products meet SAE, ASTM, and ISO standards, and encompass many grades of steel and high temperature alloys. Cardinal is also making major capital investments to upgrade our manufacturing and quality systems.
